Privacy policy

Scratch Shelf is a personal project run by an independent developer. It is a private shelf for research your AI saves for you, and an iPhone app for reading it. This page says what we keep, why, and how to remove it. We wrote it to be read.
What we store
- Your sign-in. When you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive an account identifier and your email address (Apple may give us a private relay address instead), and your name if the provider shares it. We use these only to know which shelf is yours.
- What your AI saves. Lists and items, including titles, facts, notes, source links and images. You decide what goes there by asking your AI to save it.
- Images. When your AI saves an image link, our server downloads the picture from that website, shrinks it, removes any hidden location or camera information, and stores it privately in your account.
- Technical logs. Our hosting providers keep routine logs, such as IP address and request time, to run and protect the service.
What we do not do
We do not show ads, sell your data, build advertising profiles, or use analytics or tracking in the app or on this website.
Your AI app
When you connect an AI app such as Claude or ChatGPT, it acts as you on your shelf: it can read, add, change and delete your lists and items. We receive only what it sends to save, never your conversations. How an AI company handles your conversations is covered by that company's own policy.
Who handles the data
- Supabase stores your account, lists, items and images, and runs sign-in.
- Cloudflare serves this website and the connector address your AI uses.
- Apple and Google provide the sign-in itself.
Your data is separated by account, so each account can reach only its own shelf. Data travels over encrypted connections. We do not share your data with anyone else, except where the law requires it.
On your phone
The app keeps a copy of your lists, items and images on your phone so it opens quickly and works offline. Signing out or deleting your account removes that copy.
Deleting your data
- Delete any item or list in the app, or ask your AI to. The item, its images and, for a list, everything in it are removed.
- Delete your whole account in the app under Settings. This permanently removes your account, lists, items and images.
Our hosting providers may keep routine logs or backups for a limited time after deletion.
Children
Scratch Shelf is not meant for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that matters, we will update the date at the top.
